EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Infrastructure and Built Environment: Unlocking Net Zero (FIBE3 CDT)

We are delighted to report that we have been successful in our bid for a Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Infrastructure and the Built Environment: Unlocking Net Zero (FIBE3 CDT). Many thanks to FIBE3 PI and Director, Professor Abir Al-Tabbaa and her team for their forward-thinking vision to secure us our third CDT.

The official launch was held on Tuesday 12 March 2024 by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and UKRI has published more details on the funded CDTs on its website.

The FIBE3 CDT- a strong partnership between academia and industry and under the guidance of Professor Julian Allwood, also FIBE3 Director and leading expert on climate mitigation and Net Zero, will lead a transformation to net zero infrastructure, through its ambitious vision and strategy to develop the next generation of highly talented doctoral graduates who will be equipped to lead the design and implementation of the net zero infrastructure agenda in the UK.

The centre will provide over 70 fully funded PhD students over the next 5 years. The £8.1M funding from EPSRC is supported £1.3M from the University and £2.56M from 30+ industry partners as well as over £8.9M of in-kind contributions.

Congratulations to the FIBE3 team!
