The first CM3 workshop of the term was launched with a focus on AI-driven digitalisation and data. This session kicked off a series of 4 workshops under the FIBE3 CDT MRes course, designed to provide Cohort 1 with a comprehensive understanding and practical insights into the CDT’s four high level thematic enablers.
- Existing and disruptive/new technologies
- Radical circularity and whole life approach
- AI-driven digitalisation and data
- Risk-based systems thinking and connectivity
Dr. Sakthy Selvakumaran, an academic from the University of Cambridge, commenced the workshop with an engaging presentation on multimodal data analysis. The talk delved into the complexities of data acquisition, the uncertainties involved, and how integrating AI can significantly improve the decision-making processes.
Following this, Dr. Stefano Cavazzi from Ordnance Survey analysed the complexities of uncertainty in geospatial data derived from machine learning, exploring various methods to improve data reliability and build trust.
The session wrapped up with a briefing on the upcoming assignment, motivating students to apply their newfound knowledge to tackle real-world challenges in this field of research.
