FIBE3 Cohort 1 was excited to attend a Diversity Fresco workshop this week. It was originally designed in France and presented by Professor David Tual, Head of Centre for Languages and Inter-Communication (CLIC) at Engineering.
The Diversity Fresco is an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion themed interactive workshop that invites participants to explore the cognitive mechanisms underlying discrimination. Through hands-on activities, participants can engage in constructive dialogue and experiment with methods to reduce bias, evaluate their impact and limitations and ultimately contribute to a more inclusive and peaceful society.

“I still remember the Diversity Fresco I attended as a participant and how eye-opening it was. I particularly enjoyed the human connections it allowed to establish and the concepts we explored collectively in a supportive and safe environment. Through my own practice, and following on from the training and support I received from Belugames, I'm now aspiring to provide the same experience to students and staff in the CUED Engineering department.“ - Professor David Tual
CLIC offers a variety of courses and workshops in multiple languages, including French, German, Japanese, and more, all with a focus on engineering concepts. Many students and staff in the CDT have enhanced their language skills through these offerings, which have proven invaluable during international conferences and internships. The workshop is part of many communication and cohort-building workshops offered by CLIC, which play a key role in enhancing teamwork, fostering collaboration, and improving interpersonal skills within the cohort.
