Talk Title: Carbon Data and Reporting for Construction
Talk Abstract: M Group Highways is a Highways Maintenance and Construction organisation, managing over 50,000km of the UK road network. Given our significant consumption of raw materials such as asphalt and concrete, as well as fuel for heavy machinery, the imperative to decarbonise our operations is clear. In order to do this, precise measurement of carbon emissions is essential. In this presentation I will cover our methodological approach to measuring our company’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. We’ll explore some of the challenges we (and others more widely across the sector) have in collecting Scope 3 data.I will explain how we set science-based carbon reduction targets, and the methodology improvements we are implementing going forward to improve the accuracy of our Scope 3 data.
