Cohort 1 brought fun, creativity, and a splash of science to the Cambridge Festival with their interactive game, Flood Fighters. Festival-goers began by crafting origami houses from paper printed with brick patterns, learning how building foundations support structures and keep them upright.
The challenge? Defend those paper homes against a playful flood of bouncing balls—symbolising rising waters—rushing through a landscape of mountains and rivers made from sustainable cardboard. Players had to think fast and place smart flood defences to protect their communities.
By blending hands-on creativity with real-world engineering challenges, the game sparked engaging conversations about climate resilience and adaptive infrastructure design.
